Cathedral of the Nativity

The Cathedral of the Nativity is one of Alexandrov's more unusual churches, first built in 1696 and rebuilt in the mid-19th century. Its single-dome, neo-Byzantine form feels more monumental than its modest setting suggests, with echoes of Moscow church architecture scaled down for a smaller town.

It is not the main reason to come to Alexandrov, but it is worth a short stop if you are already exploring the old centre and the nearby Alexandrov Kremlin.
