The 130th Quarter (Kvartal 130) is Irkutsk's most lovingly restored historic district, a cluster of 19th-century wooden merchant houses that were relocated, renovated, and reopened as boutiques, cafes, and galleries in time for the city's 350th anniversary in 2011. Strolling the brick-paved lanes between elaborately carved facades is the single best introduction to Irkutsk's architectural character.
