Izborsk is about 30 km west of Pskov on the road toward Pechory and the Estonian border. Buses and marshrutkas run from Pskov, though schedules thin out outside the main season; a taxi or hired car is simpler if you want to combine Izborsk with Pechory in one day.
Driving is straightforward and the road is good by regional standards. In winter, check local conditions before setting out, as the village lanes around the fortress and springs can be icy.
