Conception Monastery is an active Russian Orthodox convent in Khamovniki. Founded in 1584, it was closed after the Revolution and reopened in the 1990s, so the present complex combines old religious history with post-Soviet restoration.
It is a quiet stop in central-west Moscow, useful for visitors who want to see an operating convent rather than only the city's large museum churches. Dress and behave as you would at an active place of worship.
