Moscow Orphanage

The Moscow Orphanage is a huge 18th-century complex on the Moskva River, begun under Catherine the Great as an ambitious state project for abandoned children. It is more an exterior architecture stop than a museum, but its scale and austere classical facade make it worth noticing while exploring the old streets east of the Kremlin.
