Katyn Memorial Forest

Katyn Memorial Forest marks one of the main killing and burial sites connected with the Katyn massacre, in which Soviet NKVD forces murdered thousands of Polish officers and members of the Polish intelligentsia during World War II. The site is a grave and memorial landscape rather than a conventional attraction, but it is an important historical stop west of Smolensk for visitors following wartime history.
