Transfiguration Church is a 19th-century church in Tula built in the restrained Russian classicist style. It replaced an older church of St Nicholas on the same site, so it carries a longer local religious history than the present building first suggests.
It is a modest stop compared with the Tula Kremlin or the city's major museums, but the clean proportions and historic setting make it worth adding to a walk through central Tula.
