Alexander Garden

Clifftop park with panoramic views over the Vyatka River valley

The Alexander Garden occupies the bluff above the river, a strip of formal parkland laid out in the 19th century that remains one of the most pleasant places in the city. Broad allees lead to viewing terraces with panoramic views over the Vyatka River valley, the low wooded hills of the far bank, and the Dymkovo district below.

In summer the garden fills with families and couples on evening walks; in winter the snow-covered paths and river views take on a stark beauty that is genuinely impressive. The garden connects to the historic center a few minutes walk away, making it an easy addition to any exploration of the old merchant quarter. It is particularly atmospheric in the long evenings of the Russian summer, when the sky stays light until nearly midnight.
