Walking in the Moravica Valley

Pleasant wooded hills and river walking through the valley around Sokobanja

The hills surrounding Sokobanja are forested and crossed by marked walking paths. The Moravica river threads through the valley and several easy trails follow its banks. The most popular walk circles the valley floor — a few hours of easy going through mixed forest with views up to the ridge and across to the crag where the Sokograd fortress sits.

More demanding routes climb to the ridge above town, passing through beech and oak forest and reaching viewpoints over the valley. The trails are maintained and marked; you don't need a guide for the main routes. Spring and autumn are the best seasons — the summer heat is manageable but July and August are humid.
