Kremnica is about 25 km northwest of Banská Bystrica and is most easily reached by bus from there (frequent departures, around 40 minutes). By car from Banská Bystrica, the mountain road through the Kremnica Mountains is scenic and takes about the same time.
There is a railway line serving Kremnica from Žiar nad Hronom, but trains are infrequent and the bus is generally more convenient. From Bratislava, the journey takes around 3 hours by bus or car, typically with a change or routing through Banská Bystrica.
