The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist is the seat of Prešov's Greek Catholic tradition, a reminder that eastern Slovakia sits close to the religious borderlands of the Carpathians. It has a different atmosphere from the Latin Catholic Saint Nicholas church up the street.
That contrast is the point. Visit both churches and you begin to understand Prešov as a meeting place of rites and communities rather than a one-note Slovak town.
