Malinô Brdo Ski and Hiking Resort

Malinô Brdo is the ski resort serving Ružomberok, sitting on the slopes above the town to the southwest. In winter it offers 8 km of downhill runs across several levels — nothing extreme by Alpine standards but well-maintained and uncrowded by comparison with better-known Slovak resorts. The gondola and chair lifts run from December through March.

In summer the lifts continue to operate, and the mountain becomes a hiking base. The summit gives access to marked trails through the Greater Fatra National Park, including routes toward Ploská and Čierny kameň. Mountain bikers come for the trails; families come for the gentler walks and the views. The resort has a restaurant at the top and a terrace with a long view across Ružomberok and the Liptov valley.

A story
Malinô Brdo translates roughly as "Raspberry Hill," and the resort sits at around 1,200 metres above sea level on the lower slopes of the Greater Fatra range. On a clear day the summit lift gives views across the entire Liptov basin — the flat valley floor enclosed by four mountain ranges — a panorama that makes the scale of the landscape immediately legible.
