Punta and the lighthouse

Punta is the rocky tip of the Piran peninsula, the very end of the old town. A small whitewashed church, Our Lady of Health, sits on the headland next to a slender working lighthouse — together they form one of Piran's most photographed compositions, especially at sunset when the light catches the cliffs along the Adriatic coast.

The waterfront walk from Tartini Square round to Punta and back along the other shore is no more than fifteen minutes and is the most pleasant stroll in town. Bring something to drink and sit on the rocks; the swimming here is excellent in summer.
