Playa de la Fuente del Gallo

Fuente del Gallo lies south of the old town, about 1 km from the centre along the cliff road, backed by low sandstone cliffs that provide a natural windbreak. The beach itself is wide and the sand is slightly finer here than at Bateles. It is popular with families and slightly calmer in atmosphere than the main town beach.

Access is via a short path down through the cliffs. There are beach bars in season, and the clifftop above the beach is developed with apartment complexes from the 1980s and 90s — visually unfortunate but practically useful if you are staying nearby. The evening walk back along the cliff road to the town centre, with the sun dropping over the sea, is one of the more pleasant things you can do in Conil.
