Catedral de la Seo

Mudejar masterpiece and UNESCO-listed older cathedral of Zaragoza

The Seo is Zaragoza's older, more austere cathedral — overshadowed in visitor numbers by the nearby Basílica del Pilar but architecturally far more interesting. Built in the 14th century over an older Romanesque temple, with later additions in neoclassical, baroque, and plateresque styles, it is the best example of Aragonese Mudejar architecture and part of the UNESCO-listed Mudejar of Aragón. The five-nave interior, the main altarpiece, and the brickwork of the exterior apse are all outstanding.
