Cala Galdana is widely considered the most beautiful beach on Menorca's south coast: a semicircle of white sand at the mouth of the Algendar gorge, with calm turquoise water and cliffs on three sides. It's well developed — hotels and apartment blocks fill the surrounding hillsides — but the natural setting is so striking that the development barely registers when you're on the beach.
From Cala Galdana, hiking paths run east and west along the coastal cliffs to quieter beaches accessible only on foot. Cala Mitjana and Cala Macarella to the west, and Cala Trebelúger to the east, are among the most beautiful beaches on the island and can be reached in 30-45 minutes of walking from Galdana. Cala Galdana itself is the main service hub for the south-central coast — boat trips, kayak rental, and restaurants are all available.
