El Caleton is the natural swimming pool complex formed where the 1706 lava reached the sea. Stone paths, ladders, and railings now make the black volcanic basins easy to use, though the Atlantic still decides how calm the water is.
It is the most vivid place in town to understand Garachico's history: the same lava that ruined the harbour created the pools that now bring people here. Bring sandals for the rock and avoid it when the sea is rough.
