Museo de los Lagares (Potty Museum)

Ciudad Rodrigo has an unexpected claim to fame: a museum dedicated entirely to chamber pots, holding over 1,300 examples. The collection was assembled over decades by a local enthusiast and covers objects from across Europe and several centuries, ranging from plain earthenware to elaborately decorated porcelain.

Whatever you think of the subject matter, the collection is genuinely remarkable — chamber pots turn out to reflect the ceramic styles, social conventions, and manufacturing techniques of their eras in surprisingly interesting ways. There are examples with political caricatures painted on the inside, others decorated with religious imagery, and some that double as jokes at the expense of famous figures.

It is an eccentric attraction and worth 30 minutes if you enjoy the kind of museum that only exists because one person became completely obsessed with a single object type.
