A handsome 19th-century city park laid out in the formal manner, with mature plane trees, a lake, ducks and an old bandstand. Locals walk here in the early evening and at weekends the small kiosks open up for coffee and ice cream.
In summer the park is one of the cooler spots in the city. There's a small open-air theatre that hosts free concerts in July and August — check posters at the entrance.
