Museu Darder is Banyoles' natural history museum, and its best use for travellers is as a companion to the lake. Exhibits look at the Estany de Banyoles ecosystem, local wildlife, and the older collecting culture that gave the museum its name.
It is a small stop, not a destination in itself, but it adds context before a lakeside walk or a visit to the prehistoric site at La Draga. Banyoles is easy to treat as just pretty water; the museum helps you see the geology and biology underneath that first impression.
