Mataró Museum

The Mataró Museum is the city's main history and art museum, headquartered in Can Serra, a fortified Renaissance building dating from 1565. The collections span archaeology from the Roman period (closely tied to what you can see at the Can Llauder villa), medieval and early modern Mataró, and the city's industrial history including the famous 1848 railway.

The museum also has a collection of Catalan Modernisme decorative arts, and documents relating to the cooperative movement — including records of the commission that led to Gaudí's Nau. Several branches of the museum manage the Roman villa and other sites around the city.
