The Prison is a former 19th-century jail in Mataró, built by architect Elies Rogent and later adapted as a contemporary art space. Its heavy, historicist architecture gives the exhibitions a setting with more character than a plain gallery room.
It is a compact stop in the centre of town, best paired with Mataró Museum, Casa Coll i Regàs, and the other modernista and historic buildings nearby.
