Platja Gran is Tossa's main beach, a broad curve of coarse sand directly below the old town. It is busy in summer, but the setting is hard to argue with: the Vila Vella walls at one end, restaurants and cafes along the promenade, and boats on the sand.
The water shelves quickly, so it is better for confident swimmers than for very small children. Come in the morning for space, or late in the day when the walls catch the warm light.
