O Grove sits at the tip of a near-island peninsula at the mouth of the Ría de Arousa and is one of the best places in Galicia to eat shellfish. The annual Festa do Marisco in early October — declared of National Tourist Interest — draws tens of thousands of visitors for a fortnight of mussels, oysters, percebes, and razor clams.
Beyond the festival, O Grove is a working port with a long causeway connecting to the island of A Toxa, a small spa enclave with a famously photogenic church covered entirely in scallop shells. Boat trips from the harbour visit the mussel rafts that float in their thousands across the ria.
