The Glorieta de Espana is the green heart of Murcia, a palm-shaded square where locals gather in the evenings. Tall palms, flowering shrubs, and ornamental gardens fill the space. On one side stands the Ayuntamiento (City Hall), built in 1848 in a restrained neoclassical style. Nearby is the Palacio Episcopal, a fine baroque building constructed between 1757 and 1760.
The plaza works as a natural starting point for exploring the old town. From here you can walk to the cathedral in a few minutes, or head south toward the river.
