Torre del Marenyet

Sixteenth-century coastal watchtower built after pirate raids made the shoreline dangerous.

The Torre del Marenyet was built in 1577 as part of the watchtower network that guarded this coast from Barbary pirates. It is plain, sturdy, and easy to understand: a lookout post from a time when a sail on the horizon could mean trouble.

It works best as a small stop after the castle or Dragut cave, especially if you are following the JĂșcar south of town.
