Castell de Bairén is a ruined fortress north of the centre, reached by a short uphill walk. The site has older roots, but the visible structure is mainly Moorish, later folded into the Christian story of the coast.
Come for the setting as much as the masonry. From the hill you can read Gandía properly: old town inland, river and port below, and the Mediterranean just beyond the fields and apartment blocks.
