The Museu de la Mar is a compact museum in Peñíscola's old town, useful for putting the castle and fishing harbour into context. Its displays cover local archaeology, seafaring, maps, model ships, and the town's long relationship with the Mediterranean.
It is small enough to fold into a wander through the old streets, and the aquariums make it more engaging for children than a straight history display.
