Jardí de Montfort is one of Valencia's most elegant small gardens, all clipped hedges, quiet paths, fountains and marble figures. It has a more formal, intimate mood than the long Turia Gardens, and feels like a pocket of 19th-century refinement just beyond the old centre.
It is best visited slowly. There are no grand set pieces to tick off; the pleasure is in the geometry, shade and calm, especially on a hot afternoon when the busier plazas feel exposed.
