Torres de Quart

The lower-key but equally medieval counterpart to the Serranos towers, marking the western edge of the old city. Built in the mid-15th century in a heavier military style — squat, round, and fortress-like rather than slim and ceremonial. From the top there is a fine view down Calle Caballeros toward the cathedral.

Climb is included in a small admission fee, free on Sundays. Combine with a walk through the El Carmen quarter on your way back into town.

A story
The deep pockmarks on the western facade are cannonball scars from Marshal Suchet's siege of Valencia in 1808 during the Peninsular War. The towers were never repaired and the damage was deliberately kept as a memorial.
