Getting There

Engelsberg is a small village and does not have its own train station. The nearest rail connections are at Fagersta, about 15 kilometres away, which is served by regional trains from Västerås (roughly one hour) and from there by connections to Stockholm (around two hours total). From Fagersta you need a car or taxi — there is no regular bus service to the ironworks.

Driving from Stockholm takes around two hours on the E18 westward, turning north at Västerås. From Örebro the journey is similar in length. The Bergslagen region rewards a driving loop rather than a there-and-back trip: several other old ironworks, manor houses, and lakes are scattered within an hour's radius.
