Getting There

Karlskrona is connected to Stockholm by direct trains — the journey takes around four hours on the Blekinge Kustbana and Kust till Kust lines, with a change in Alvesta or Göteborg depending on the route. Malmö is around 90 minutes by train, and Göteborg about three hours. The train station is on the edge of the city centre, a ten-minute walk from Stortorget.

By road, Karlskrona sits at the end of the E22 motorway, which runs southeast from Malmö along the Baltic coast. Driving from Malmö takes about 90 minutes; from Stockholm, allow around four hours. There are regular long-distance buses on the Swebus and FlixBus networks.

Ferries to Gdynia in Poland depart from the port at Verkö, a few kilometres east of the city centre. Stena Line operates this route, making Karlskrona a useful gateway if you are travelling between Scandinavia and northern Europe by sea. Booking ahead is recommended in summer.
