Mariebergsskogen is Karlstad's city park, but it feels more useful than decorative. It has open lawns, woods, water, a small animal area, and Naturum Värmland, where the delta landscape and Lake Vänern ecology are explained before you go wandering outside.
It is best in good weather, when the park becomes the city's outdoor living room. Families will get the most from it, but the waterside paths make it worthwhile for anyone who wants a slow break from the centre.
