Fagelsjo Gammelgard

Remote UNESCO farmhouse preserved with painted rooms and old household objects.

Fagelsjo Gammelgard, also known as Bortom aa, is the most remote of Ljusdal's UNESCO farmhouses. The distance is part of the appeal: by the time you reach Fagelsjo, the farm feels tied to forest roads, self-sufficient households, and the older economy of inland Halsingland.

Inside are decorated rooms, preserved furniture, and household objects that make the place feel less like a museum reconstruction than a farm whose owners stepped away and left the doors shut.
