Kronoberg Castle Ruin stands north of Växjö in a pretty lakeside setting. The castle dates back to the Middle Ages and later became associated with Nils Dacke, the Småland rebel who fought the Swedish crown in the 16th century.
The ruin is an easy short trip from the city, especially in summer when the water, woods, and cafe make it feel less like a bare historical stop.
