The Butterfly House (Fjärilshuset) sits inside Hagaparken, a royal park on the northern edge of the city. A large greenhouse maintains tropical heat year-round, and hundreds of free-flying butterflies from Asia, Africa, and South America share the space with exotic birds and fish. It's a pleasant escape from a grey Stockholm day, and the contrast between the humidity inside and the Nordic chill outside makes it feel particularly surreal in winter.
