Gröna Lund

Gröna Lund is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, founded in 1883 on Djurgården. The park is compact — it sits on a small waterfront plot squeezed between the water and the road — which makes it more intense than most. Around 30 rides are packed in, ranging from the classic wooden roller coaster from 1935 to more recent thrill machines. The vintage funfair atmosphere, with its old carousel and game stalls, is part of the charm.

The park also functions as a major concert venue, with big-name acts performing on the outdoor stage throughout summer. The setting — with the waterfront, Djurgården's trees, and the Stockholm skyline visible — is one of the nicer places in the city to see live music. The park is open seasonally from spring through autumn.
