Mariatorget

Mariatorget is one of Södermalm's most pleasant squares, a leafy rectangle with a central fountain, benches, and flowerbeds, surrounded by handsome turn-of-the-century buildings and a scatter of cafés and restaurants. It is a calm, well-used green space — locals read on the benches, children play, and the surrounding streets are good for browsing.

The square sits in the western part of Södermalm near the Mariaberget heights, an easy walk from the Monteliusvägen viewpoint and the cafés of Hornsgatan with its row of small art galleries (Hornsgatspuckeln). It makes a good resting point and orientation hub for exploring this quieter, more residential side of the island.
