Nobel Prize Museum

The Nobel Prize Museum occupies the former Stock Exchange Building on Stortorget, the main square of Gamla Stan. The museum covers the history of the Nobel Prize and profiles its laureates through objects, films, and interactive installations — each year's prizes in physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, peace, and economics get their own presentation.

The building itself is elegant 18th-century neoclassical, and the museum's prize-winners' café chairs — each signed on the underside by a Nobel laureate — are a quirky attraction. The museum is relatively compact and can be seen in an hour. It works well combined with a walk around Gamla Stan and a visit to the nearby Royal Palace.
