Getting There

Västerås is well connected to Stockholm and easy to reach from most directions. The city sits on the main east-west rail corridor, and frequent trains make it a straightforward trip from the capital.

Trains from Stockholm Central to Västerås run one to two times an hour on weekdays, with the regional service taking just under an hour. Intercity trains on the Stockholm-Gothenburg line also stop here. SJ (sj.se) handles most services, while Tåg i Bergslagen runs regional trains connecting Västerås with northwest Västmanland and southern Dalarna.

Long-distance buses serve Västerås from Stockholm, Örebro, Karlstad, Uppsala, and Oslo. Stockholm-Västerås Airport, about 6 km east of the city centre, has budget airline connections.
