The Hahnenmoos pass at 1,956 metres sits on the ridge above Adelboden and is the gateway to the Lenk valley on the far side. In winter, ski runs descend in both directions. In summer, the chairlift from Adelboden opens the pass to walkers who want high-altitude terrain without a serious climb from the valley. The views from the pass take in the Wildstrubel, Niesen, and on clear days the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau to the northeast.
The walk along the ridge from Hahnenmoos towards the Sillerenbühl and then down to Adelboden via the Bergläger makes a satisfying half-day loop of about 3 hours. In July and August the alpine meadows around the pass are full of gentians, orchids, and mountain flowers that make this one of the better wildflower walks in the Bernese Oberland. There is a restaurant at the pass itself, open in season.
