Adelboden has two distinct seasons and is worth visiting in both. The ski season runs from mid-December to mid-April, with the best snow conditions usually in January and February. The World Cup race weekend in early January brings the largest crowds of the year — if you want the slope to yourself, avoid that weekend or enjoy the spectacle.
Summer (July and August) is excellent for hiking and mountain biking. The cable cars and chairlifts operate, giving access to high alpine terrain without the effort of a full ascent from the valley. The wildflowers on the Hahnenmoos plateau are at their best in July. June is worth considering for the Engstligen Falls when snowmelt fills them; September is quieter still, with the first dustings of snow on the high peaks. Between the seasons (May and November) most facilities close.
