The lakeside promenade runs east and west from the harbour, following the shore of Lake Constance with views across to the German and Austrian shore. On clear days the Austrian Alps are visible to the south-east. The walk west towards Egnach takes around an hour at an easy pace and forms part of the long-distance Bodensee-Radweg cycling route.
The Strandbad (public lake beach and outdoor pool) sits along the promenade east of town and is popular with locals in summer — the water of Lake Constance is clean and warm enough for swimming from June through August. There is a small café and changing facilities. It's one of the nicer public swimming spots on the Swiss side of the lake.
