Red-sandstone cathedral with Rhine views and Erasmus tomb

Address Münsterplatz 13

The red-sandstone cathedral that dominates Basel's old town. Built between the 11th and 15th centuries, it was reconsecrated as a Protestant church after the Reformation. Erasmus of Rotterdam is buried here. Climb the Georgsturm for one of the best views over the Rhine and the rooftops. The Pfalz terrace on the cathedral's eastern side offers the same view for free.
