The Macun Lakes are a high alpine lake basin above Scuol, reached by a demanding hike into the Swiss National Park landscape. The route climbs hard, with around 1,500 metres of ascent, but the reward is a stark ring of water, rock, and open mountain views.
This is not a casual stroll from town. Start early, carry proper mountain gear, and only go in settled weather; on a clear day it is one of the better long walks in the Lower Engadine.
