The Titlis ski area is Engelberg's main winter draw, with lifts climbing from the valley toward Trubsee, Stand and the glacier. It has a reputation for reliable snow and demanding off-piste terrain, though there are easier pistes lower down.
In summer the same lift system becomes Engelberg's shortcut into hiking country. Even if you do not ski, it helps explain why this small village has such an international feel in winter.
