The Belpberg is a broad forested ridge rising immediately south of Gerzensee to around 880 metres. A network of footpaths from the village leads up through farmland and mixed woodland to the ridge, which gives excellent views in both directions: north over the Mittelland plateau towards Bern, south across the Aaretal and the Gürbetal to the full line of the Bernese Alps.
The walk from Gerzensee to the ridge and back takes about two hours at a moderate pace. The paths are well marked and passable in all seasons, though muddy in winter. From the ridge, paths continue east to the Aaretal valley floor or south towards Belp. The Belpberg is also good cycling country — several marked routes cross it.
