Stiftung Gerzensee (Swiss National Bank Centre)

The Stiftung Gerzensee occupies the old Schloss Gerzensee, a manor house and its grounds on the edge of the lake. The building was restored and extended to serve as a residential conference and training centre for the Swiss National Bank. It is not generally open to the public, but the exterior and parklike grounds facing the lake are visible from the public path along the shore.

The castle itself is a substantial 18th-century manor with later additions. The grounds are well maintained and add to the leafy character of the village. If you are not here for one of the bank's courses, the castle is best appreciated from the lake path on a walk around the Gerzensee.

A story
The Stiftung Gerzensee was founded in 1987 to provide advanced economics training for central bankers from developing countries. It is funded by the Swiss National Bank and has educated hundreds of economists from across the globe — a quietly influential institution in an overlooked Swiss village.
