Lac de Morgins

A small mountain lake sitting above the village at around 1,350 metres, reached in about forty minutes on foot via a waymarked trail that climbs through pastures and larchwood. In summer the water is calm and reflects the surrounding ridges on still mornings. There is a lakeside restaurant open in season, and the grass banks make a decent lunch spot.

From the lake you can continue up to the Pas de Morgins — the border crossing between Switzerland and France — which in winter is a major ski crossing between the Swiss and French halves of the Portes du Soleil domain. On foot in summer, the pass gives good views in both directions, with the Dents du Midi to the southeast and the Chablais highlands stretching into Haute-Savoie to the west.
