When to Go

Savognin has two distinct seasons. Winter runs roughly from December through March — ski season, with reliable snow thanks to the altitude, but no guarantees of good weather. Christmas and February school holidays see the village at its busiest.

Summer (June through October) is hiking season. The valley is green through July and August, but the most spectacular time is October, when the larch forests above the village turn from green to brilliant gold. This usually peaks in mid-October and lasts only a week or two before the needles fall.

Spring (April–May) and late autumn (November) are the quiet shoulder seasons when many facilities are closed.
